Bali Mula Funeral Rites

8. září 2020

A few weeks ago we spoke in our radio show Studio World about the unusual funeral rites at the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, where the locals live along their dead relatives for many years and even after burial, they often take the corpses out of the graves, wash them and change their clothes.

Today we are going to talk about the unusual funeral rites at another place in Indonesia – at Bali, the most popular island among tourists. At Bali, some native inhabitants do not bury their dead relatives into the earth, but leave them in the open air.

Our editor Kristína Chrenková visited this place and she will tell you how they do it, what has a magic tree got to do with it and why don't the local women visit the cemetery.
