Results of international radio festival Prix Bohemia Radio have been decided

At the closing evening of Prix Bohemia Radio at the Archbishop’s Palace in Olomouc, winners received prizes in three competition categories decided on by an expert jury and students.

First place went to Tereza Reková for her radio documentary Goodwill – Matěj and for the drama PepiK Knedlik (Sweet Dreams of Torture) director Petr Mančal took home the main prize. In the international category, Agnieszka Czyżewska – Jacquemet and Katarzyna Michalak placed for their report Marble and Children. The Thálie Award went to actor Petr Lněnička.

On the occasion of the 33rd annual Prix Bohemia Radio, the winners were announced for radio works in the main competition categories of the festival – Documentary, Drama and Report.

„This year’s Prix Bohemia Radio festival had very high quality submissions in all the competition categories. It offered festival visitors a variety of radio work with international comparison as well. I am pleased that the festival once again captured the attention of the Olomouc public and was attended by hundreds of radio listeners, students and professionals. This year the accompanying programme was expanded to include many cultural events. Even now I am looking forward to the pleasant atmosphere in Olomouc at next year’s Prix Bohemia Radio,“ said Czech Radio’s Director General René Zavoral.

In the Documentary section, first place went to Tereza Reková: Goodwill – Matěj. The jury awarded second place to Brit Jensen for the documentary Big Plan. Third place went to Ivan Studený: Ilhem Looking for Love for Ever.

This year’s new international category Report also has its winners. The jury awarded first place to Agnieszka Czyżewska – Jacquemet, Katarzyna Michalak: Marble and Children. Second prize went to Jan Šmíd: Calais, The Path Ends Here and third to Alicja Grembowitz: Sounds and Smells. The winners in the first three places in the category Report received a cash prize thanks to the support of the International Visegrad Fund of EUR 1500 (1st place), 1000 (2nd place) and 500 (3rd place).

In the final of the category Drama, first place went to director Petr Mančal: PepiK Knedlik (Sweet Dreams of Torture). Second place went to director Lukáš Hlavica: Fahrenheit 451 and third to director Aleš Vrzák: Fatherland.

The Thálie Award for acting in a radio play was awarded at the gala evening to actor Petr Lněnička for the role of Guy Montag in „Fahrenheit 451“.

A new addition this year was a student jury for each of the three competition categories. In almost total accordance with the expert jury, they awarded Tereza Reková for the documentary Goodwill – Matěj, Agnieszka Czyżewska – Jacquemet, Katarzyna Michalak for the report Marble and Children and director Aleš Vrzák with his rendition of the drama Fatherland.
